  • Lost files in Signlab-can they be found?

Posted by Lorraine Clinch on 28 July 2009 at 13:53

As said, just went to open a couple of files on the new computer and can’t find them, so started up the old comp, and the files there, but not all the work-complete van design, lost. There is no more than the van outlines and a bit of ‘old’ work, the whole design, cutting layout etc is gone, as though it hasn’t been saved, but I’m sure it was saved.
Is there any way of finding it? I have done a search of the C drive, and looked in BAK files, no joy. are they gone forever?

they definitely not saved as a bak file? That’s usually where they are.

    Hi Marcella

I’ve found one of the files! :wave3: I was at the feeling sick stage when I found it-not where I expected!
I still have one file missing which is easily re-created, so not worried about that one so much. The van is being cut now, thank goodness. It was the design for the ‘painted’ effect letters, which I had fiddled with for ages!

I would be interested for future reference though, if anyone has any ideas re the question.

    try a search for temp_*
signlab makes a temp file when auto saving, somtimes a lost file still has a temp file hanging about, especially if the file was not saved properly e.g. if your computer crashed or signlab shut itself down.
