    good evening all..
i have today been asked by a customer if i can supply him with some window stickers for his shop front which consist of white lettering on a red background..some are to be oval in shape and some are to be star burst..and also they must be removable and re-usable..i’m thinking static cling(if thats what it is called).. Would i be right in thinking i could apply the white vinyl letters mirror cut to the static cling then flood fill the lot with the red or is this something that would have to be printed..as i am still quite new to this i have never used static cling so i’m not too sure if applying vinyl to it will make it behave oddly and not stay stuck to the window…
Any help or suggestions would be much appreciated….

    Many thanks
    Jay

    Hi Jay,

I’ve used self cling with vinyl on it before and it was fine. BUT, I only put text on to it, no backing colour. If I’m right the problem with that would be that it would cause it to pull back. I have had others screenprinted, but again it’s best to leave a small border in from the edge to stop it pulling.

Someone else here may be able to offer more advice! 😛

    thanks for the advice marcella
there was something in the back of my mind saying the cling would want to curl slightly due to the flooding with red but it did not occur to me to leave a border between the edge of the red and the edge of the cling..
thanks again for the advice marcella..

ooh!! one more quick question if possible,,does it matter what make and type of vinyl i should use on the cling?? i was planning on using standard 3 year vinyl..

Mant thanks again for your help

    Jay,

I used Metamark 4 series vinyl which went on great. But as I said I didn’t flood the back.

    hi jay 😀

good advice from marcella…..and i too wouldnt flood the back even with a border, it eventually does draw in and curl up, then refuses to stick to window 😀

I believe you can get red self-cling from some suppliers. 😀

print reversed onto cling & overlam the back with a decent cast vinyl. worked wonders in the past. 😀
