Looking for a supplier of Vehicle decal templates
Posted by Karen McGinty on 17 September 2013 at 11:25Hello All
I have a regular customer who is always looking for new decals for his little Chevy Spark. So far I have managed to design what he wants using Impact as all of the stickers he wanted have been for the exterior of the car, but now he has found some decals from outside the UK for on the dash of his car which involve a lot of contour cutting and I was wondering if anyone knows of any supplier of decal templates for the interiors of different makes of car. (if such a thing exists!!)

I doub’t you’ll find anything with interior designs on it, maybe in manufacturers brochures but I doubt anything will have scale on it.
in cases like this, particularly where its distance selling, I get the customer to supply their own sizes required as we can’t simply guess this stuff!

Thanks Hugh! That is what I thought I would need to do, but wanted to be double sure!

Hi Karen,
you could mask the area and trace it out then scan or photograph it and put it into your sign program and size

Good idea Vic! Did the same thing when I was asked to replicate a caravan decal to replace one that had faded! It actually worked quite well (despite the fact I used baking parchment rather than tracing paper! -typical woman!!!) didn’t think of doing it for this!
I’ll give it a bash!
What’s the worst that can happen?
Many thanks!

Use Application tape rather than tracing paper or baking parchment 🙂

Forgive me if I’m missing something hugely obvious here but could they not be done by making a template in apllication tape or wide masking tape? Run it between the two end points and then either draw a shape onto it or mark measurements on it and then carefully take it off lay it flat and photograph it, scale photo up in Corel and make the curves and cut.
Sounds complicated but very easy to do. -
Hi Harry. The issue I had was not having access to the car to make up a template like that, but have now arranged for Customer to bring vehicle through and let me have some time to do this. I’ll post the results when all done. He’s not available for another few weeks though!
Thanks everyone for all your help!
