  • Looking for a rigid printable substrate upto 1.5mm thick

As the title says, I am looking for a rigid material which I can print on using Epson Ultrachrome inks, that be be used outdoors, only short terms is needed (1-3 months), but am willing to seal with frogjuice etc.

The maximum thickness should be 1.5mm as it will go through the Epson 9600 printer.

I currently use adhesive vinyl and then stick it onto 3mm correx, but if I could cut out this process it would save me a lot of time and effort.

    Any ideas?????

If you are using a solvent ink (IE if you are not using specially coated vinyl to print on) then you can use Styrene or ABS. Here in South africa , it can be obtained from 0.4mm to 5mm thick – Im sure the same holds there. I print on both with my Roland Soljet and you dont need to coat either if its not being scratched or handles , will easily last 3 months.

I don’t know if it’s suitable for what you require but… foam PVC comes in 1mm

Thanks Rodney, I will order some samples and give it a try.

got the same printer, its pigmented ink, you need a coated substrate for the ink to ‘go into’, you can only stay with your same process.

if you want card, them try AIT & ask for Anthony, he will source it for you….great company.
