You should be able to copy and paste the logo from Word into Signlab. (Failing that it will definitely copy and paste into Corel – then export)

    Hi Derek,

The word pics resolution is probably 72ppi… at very small sizes.
That’s definitely not enough to interpolate and as such are worthless for anything apart from word docs and profile gifs maybe 🙁
What logos are they, maybe we can find them elsewhere?

Derek, it depends whether the placed image was a vector or bitmap originally)
    If it looks like a vector (typical Corel type wmf) don’t just copy the image, do this;

Double click the image (corner angles will appear instead of nubs).
Zoom in close and marquee select all the elements.
    Right click & select copy.
In Signlab select paste & click on screen.

This works using SL7- SL9 (maybe earlier) and Word 2007.
Of course the rule is NEVER accept any Word doc as artwork.

No problem. Depending on the software you are viewing those in you can see the resolution and size when you go to image properties. I would imagine that min of 150ppi at full size or 300ppi half size is needed for print? At least that’s how I always prepare my print files?
If you blow up to real size and it looks bad that is what you’ll get- a step easily missed while working on computer, as things scaled down don’t look true.

You can always get an ideal of how bitmaps will look if they are 72 dpi (screen resolution) which is probably what this will be as most programmes like that create at that resolution, by zooming in and making it the same physical size on screen that it will be. This will give you an ideal as to what it will print like. For print we insist on 100dpi at actual size.

I normally aim for 100 – 150 dpi finished size. I will quit often redraw simple stuff so I have more control over colour and resolution is not an issue any more for photos or logos not practical to redraw I use Photozoom V4 (upgrade from free V2 that comes with X5)

I find printing to pdf, then dropping it into signlab is a good way of doing it.
but if the image is poor to start with it doesnt improve things

Hi Derek best way to get something out of word, save file as a docx if it is not already, change the file extension to .zip you will get access to the original placed files. cant remember the folder name off the top of my head – res or something, hope this helps

great if you need to get the original pic the customer has not skewed or stretched
