Crossed my mind, but I (and my lil’ helpers) did an identical sign last week in a shopping mall (on floor only after 7pm) – sure two of us could lift it OK – but a third body (safety first?….nah, just an effin’ expensive neon sign…) was required to put the fixings in!! – It’s the additional wiring, fireman’s switch etc. and crawling through tiny ‘access’ hatches that takes the time.
And as the festival has just started – it’s heaving with tourists & police until about midnight with CCTV on every corner………so no chance of doing it on-the-fly!!

Cheers for that link Andrew – will ring ’em in the morning, but I expect I’ll get a knock back until the festival’s over as I’ll only do it during the day – I’m tired on getting off site at 10.30 and having an hours drive home…or two.

is it standard to require a permit for putting a tower up in Scotland?

Never heard of having to do that down here, we just get on with it and smile at the traffic wardens; put plenty of cones down so pedestrians cant get in our way and smile at the older ones apologetically as we help them past

guess we have permits to look forward to then in a years time 😥

Normally, here in Dundee we just ‘carry on regardless’, smile at the wardens (except that old *^&@^ in Broughty Ferry) and get the job done. But a couple of LA’s, Perth, Aberdeen & Glasgow I knew about like to get permits if it infringes in a public pathway or you need to park in a restricted area. Edinburgh it would seem is the same.
At this time of year especially!! £chi-ching£. Doing a job on Princes Street right now is not going to be easy…whoever ends up doing it 🙄

They are already here…try doing work in Westminster or Camden without a permit for scaffolding or powered access equipment and you get £1000 fine – and once one council sees a new revenue scheme it won’t be long before others follow

Well, got the job…..got the permit (pending).

Just have to wait until the festival is over in early September!!
