As we are moving into our new premises I’ve been charged with sorting out the electrical & comms side – to include the new lighting .

I know that there is a minimum lumens per square metre for industrial / warehouse applications. I think it’s 100l/m2 if memory serves. (Just checked – That’s pretty dingy, but workable – apparently a bright office is about 400l/m) BUT, I don’t have any tables or ‘light cone’ data sheets.

Spec for the production floor is:- Floor area – 12m x 37m.

    False roof height 3m.

Roof & walls white in colour for maximum light reflectivity & shadow eradication.

    NO natural lighting.

Plan at present is 3 rows of 7 double 8′ tubes.

I strongly suspect this will be more than bright enough – but if anybody can shed some light on the subject I’d appreciate it.

    Dave

    Hi Dave
depending on the distance between light units i would consider alternating the center row. This can give a more even glow

don’t use 8 foot tubes, your heart will be broke keeping them going, very hard to start etc, if using flourscents i would suggest using 5 ft as they are mainly trouble free.

If you have a local CEF (City Electrical Factors) they have in-house lighting consultants that can to a visit and draw up lighting plan for you. All done free on the assumption they get the work……
