Been busy doing other projects for a while until I got this sign to do a few wks ago.
Only lettering though, would much rather do the back ground as well as this was one was full of grit & not sanded/filled at all. It was a very cold day & the wasn’t flowing well for long even with some hurry up stuff (as I call it) mixed thru.
I like sign writing & like to go further into it. So I’m thinking of doing some
    more complex traditional stuff soon.

    That looks lovely.
I hate lettering in the cold as well but it’s just something I have to do.
Always like to see your work.
    Love…..Jill

Shane, you will have to excuse my ignorance, I’m not a brushie and never will be, don’t have the skill for that.
Is that done freehand or from a mask (or shouldn’t I ask ) Just that I was looking at the join between some of the letters and it looked a bit like commercial script does when the kerning isn’t 100%.

    Nice looking lettering Shane.

Not nice lettering in the cold is it, I seize up (my age) you know.

And Martin, shame on you 🙄

I would have used a pattern

That ok Martin, nah, all freehand painted without mask which I never use cos it never looks trad & thats the way the customer wanted it exactly as she emailed me.

Neil, in my defense I did apologise BEFORE I asked the question :lol1: :lol1:

I sort of knew it would be freehand from Jill and Harry’s comments but hey I had to ask, it was just that one bit where the letters join that didn’t quite look right but as Shane has explained that was how the customer wanted it.

I promise never to ask again 😳 😳

Might only be lettering Shane but I have the utmost respect for anyone that can do this sort of work.

Lovely stuff, freehand always looks to have the edge when doing a job like that, even though I’d wimp out and vinyl it in this weather.

I wrote a JCB one winter, and the water froze on it as I washed it, it was heartbreaking, but it was soon after then I bought my first vinyl cutter.

Just watch out for chilblains, that’s the best was to get them, even with fingerless gloves. 😥
