i’m right handed phil!!
good question how does a left handed person signwrite a sign? always wondered how they got round it, without smudging the lettering he has just done!!

Nik: Some of the best poster writers were (are) left handers
Poster writers use one stroke brushes and write just like it says: in one stroke technique
Now I do sound like I used to have a left handed poster writer as my right hand man but its just something I happen know
Terry from Essex (the one who does those custom sprayed chrome letters) is ambidextrous as can be seen from his demos
Incidentally where are you Terry?

ed is a one stroke poster righter, which always amazed me, and he is right handed, i’m not saying left handers cannot do it, it was just years ago when i was starting out the thought went throuigh my head while doing a large painted sign, starting from left to right “how would a left handed person do this sign?” 😀

:point:

Yeah I know what you mean
The other thing is signwriters who put a shadow on the left as oppose to the right. I can do it but it takes a conscious effort and doesn’t come naturally
I’m only a shadow of a man I used to be

Im a righty and so is Steve 😀
John you make me laugh!!! :dance1:

I am right handed by nature but I can do a lot of things with my left hand. I wouldnt go as far as to say I was anpidextrous as I favour my right hand and will use it where ever possible but If I have to paint, apply vinyl etc with my left hand I can.
-
im the same martin mate.. i can easily apply vinyl with my left hand, but favour my right because i can apply more pressure if needed and have a bit more control. 😀
-
I suppose most of us use our left hand a lot but find we need to use our right occasionally for the awkward customer (bully)

hi, a left hand person here. oh well i cant signwrite anyway. i found it hard to use a fountain pen at school.

Another LEFTY…i think!
signwrite with my left
fill in and roller with rightairbrush with the right
draw with left
mouse with the right
graph’ tablet with the leftand if it saves moving tressles ..both!
I used to enjoy calligraphy (still do but dont get the time these days )
with that i would use a normal nib start at the bottom of the page and write from right to left
so as not to smudge anythingps should i seek treatment?
hi John ..’im still about

No don’t worry you’re not on your own.
I used to write left handed but changed to my right for convenience.
Signwrite left (ish)
Paint brush, roller, drawing and airbrush I favour my right but use my left a lot.My dominant eye is my right, which is perhaps more telling than the hand you use.

So there you are Terry and Alan :funky2:
Both terribly gifted guys who use both hands :bow:I only use my right – Doesn’t say much for me :you:
John
Good to see you Tel & Al 😀

I guess it all depends on what you’re doing with the hand at the time 😮
Ok…right handed
-
As you can see from my avtar Im a lefty. play pool cricket etc right, airbrush both, beer left, can write with both, stripe left, can only carve with the malet in my right hand, but for some strange reason can only use a large spray gun right handed and vinyl which ever hand the squegee is in at the time.
-
I’m right handed but when I used to play football (soccer) I dribbled with my right foot but could only kick with my left

I’m pretty amazed at how close the voting is at the moment – perhaps lefties are more artistic than the rest of us. although there is only 18 votes cast at the moment (10 – 8)
