Leather look vinyl
Posted by Cherie Whitby on 11 February 2009 at 16:16Hello all,
I’ve got a customer who is looking for some leather look vinyl (it’s for exterior use) and I wonder if any of you know of a supplier? I’ve tried Hexis, but they don’t do one, so I’d be grateful if anyone could suggest another supplier.
Many thanks
Cherie

Hi i don’t know if they have a leather look vinyl but Aurora Graphics are producing some pretty cool stuff at the moment. Worst comes to worst even though expensive you could get the leather look printed onto vinyl.

Thanks Gareth, I’ll try Aurora – hadn’t thought of them. I had already thought of printing a leather effect, but they really wanted the texture as well. The 3M stuff looks like it will do the job, just waiting for my supplier to either give me a quote or tell me who stocks it, as they don’t normally.

William Smith stock the 3M Di-Noc vinyls but they are very very very expensive. I have had to do very similar for a job, I just used our normal vinyl and laminated it with a leather look laminate which is textured. You can get this from a variety of suppliers.

The Di-Noc is flipping expensive – £30 a linear metre!! Your over-laminate solution sounds interesting Ian, and it’s not something I’ve come across before, could you point me in the right direction please?
Thanks.

I would get mine from either Neschen or All Print Supplies

Thanks Ian.
Having just called William Smith, they confirm that they do keep quite a bit of the Di-Noc in stock, they don’t stock the leather look and at £1,561 a roll, buying a whole roll is a bit rich for my blood 😮 .
I’ve got price lists and samples on the way for the over-laminate from both Neschen, who are new to me, and All Print Supplies, who I’ve been meaning to contact as they have been highly recommend to me and are quite local too.
Hopefully I can find something that this customer likes, as this small job is very likely to lead to quite a bit more work if I can get it right.
Many thanks for all your help.
Cherie
