Latex 26500 head test print – advice please…
Posted by Hugh Potter on 28 March 2019 at 14:30Hi all,
Couple of issues on the print quality, especially grey and now some banding in magenta.
Looking at the following I need to replace heads 1 & 5,m for sure. Poss No.2,
May change 3&4 too, as waaaaay out of warranty, was thinking they’re upsetting the grey but now I think it might well be the 1&5!!

Should the blocks of colour showing head position be solid? They look a bit grainy but the printed grids are fine – excluding the obvious .

Hi Hugh, if our 260 died last week and I’ve now replaced! Still got the machine sat here which I will sell parts off! I do have all the printheads, part used inks which are 70/80% full, a new yellow & light cyan and 2 ink maintenance kits! Happy to do a good deal on all of that if you are interested!

Hi Luke,
I’d be interested in the inks (so long as genuine), and maintenance kits. I’ve messaged you through your website contact form.Unless the heads are virtually new, I’ll buy new ones I think. Not sure what else I’d need really!

Hi Hugh,
Presume you’ve done a head clean cycle or 2? I usually find they come back with a couple of cleans. Those blocks are never a great measure of print quality but the bits to the left that show how many of the holes are working is a better guide I find & a clean usually brings most back to working order even after warranty is out.
The Y/B heads seem to go on forever, I have one at 4500 & the other at 5500 & never an issue with either. My main issue has always been the light inks in 1,2,5 & 6 but particularly 1 & 2 where they just stop completely rather than just deteriorate gradually. Looks like your No. 5 has done just that??
Kevin Busby was on recently & thinks it’s down to something in the print head carriage rather than the heads themselves & if swapped around will continue to work but I’ve still to test that theory out in the next day or two as am having this issue currently.
Can I ask is your banding horizontal or vertical? I have had issues with vertical banding particularly on certain colours like grey, mid blue, mid green & never 100% managed to cure it. You might need to check the substrate advance settings if it’s horizontal banding & also you can enable vertical correction for vertical banding from either your RIP or the printer interface, but remember to disable if you’re not getting banding.
