Hi, is there an aftermarket option for the gerber cutter which will allow you to accurately set your plotter, I’ve tried everything, calibration etc and whilst I am generally happy with most of my cuts (after applying bleeds). I am still wary of running anything over 1/2 metre especially if I am printing and cutting smallish labels.

    Any advice?

    Thanks

Hi Jason, I have the same problem and have to fool the cutter by manually moving the cutter head x number of clicks below the reg mark and x number of clicks to the right, it works to a certain degree but not perfect.

Let me know if you find out how to resolve it. I suspect it will be down to getting the cutter overhauled at the end of the day.

Hi Matt, okay, finding the edge a little frustrating at times, having to set my mind back 10 years (easier these days than 10minutes) to cope with the technology, but still amazed by the work you can produce with it. Do you do large format work, have been asked about vehicle wraps??

    Cheers

Not much mate. Done one or two part wraps, but mainly forrex and di-bond signs at the moment. Cut vinyl and print mixture. Trying to push the printing a bit more recently. Whats your company name jase?

Did you say in a previous post that you had an edge before?

I know what you mean about technology! My brains pickled somedays.

Just switched to a slightly less agressive ink a couple of weeks ago, as im short of space(amongst other things) the full solvent ink was starting to eat away at my last few brain cells i have left. Seems good so far. Thinking about getting a laminator soon, if i can sqeeeze it in somewhere.

Soory just re-read your thread. Doh. Yeah i have a cadet.

Jason, the edge shouldn’t give you too many problems mate, if you’re using Omega software with it you’re pretty sorted.

your registration problem for cutting cannot be cured by calibration of any type. assuming the plotter has been calibrated anyway, you would need to use the method already described…manually adjusting the position of the target. if you do that once, it should be good to go. I have actually cut entire 50m rolls using that method and the result is very good.

Problem is, there is a degree of accuracy and tolerance that is limited when you get down to really small labels and such like, however, there are usually ways around that, especially if you have some design input into what you’re doing.
