I’ve contacted my usual suppliers like Wm Smith & Ashby.

Does anybody have any experience of something like a 7m high x 2m wide double sided sign (panel size 5.5 x 2m) and any additional advice.

Last one I did was a refurb and the pole arrangement was already in place so I faced it in printed composite – looks great to this day…why I’ve been asked to do a new one.

Suspecting 10" steel poles with tie bars…1.5m in ground and a couple of cubic metres of concrete…gonna be a big bugger…

Can Ashby not advise?? Pretty sure it was Insight who advised us very well when we did one a few years back.

Oh, I’m 100% sure that both Ashby & W.S will advise on the correct materials & installed depth.

I’m just after personal experience of doing the install.

Such as pole erection since it’s not the sort of thing I can lift up & drop in a hole by hand – and the weight will be waaaaay over using a cherry picker.

For instance – will a JCB backhoe with the poles in a sling be a good idea to lift in place (as there will be one on site to dig the holes anyway.

Your ‘insight’ experience may prove to be helpful.

I can’t really offer much in the way of guidance. I ended up subbing it out to a local company. They were already doing some work on the site and had all the equipment.

    Sorry I can’t help more.

    Cheers

    Sounds like a big one.
We make these all the time, but as we are trade suppliers some times to your suppliers, I can’t really tell you who we are. 😀
You’re going to need internal mild steel structure possibly out of 150mm x 100mm x 5mm wall R.H.S. A couple of base plates 500mm x 500mm x 25mm thick mild steel. A couple of ground cages, from M30 studding buried in the concrete approx 1000mm deep. 2mm Aluminium panels a minimum of 2 either side so a panel joint ( make sure it misses your decoration where possible)
Set the base cages first in the concrete & then return once it’s set with the totem sign on a low loader & a Hi-ab crane for dropping it onto the exposed studs.
