Large Post Sign
Afternoon all,
We have a job coming in for a large post sign, there will be 2 8ft x 4ft sheets and 1 8ft x 2 ft sheet which will be channelled and clipped on to posts.
My questions are:
I have been told that i can only get steel posts at 6000mm long?
I am having someone carry out a site survey to ensure there are no services etc going on underground.
How do i dig the hole, ordinarily we would use a spade, but as its going down atleast 1m how would i do this?
Would you suggest 3 Posts or 2?

You can dig the hole with ‘Shove Holers’ – go to a good builders merchant. They are a double handled shovel which you lift the soil back out with.
You can get posts over 6m, but it may be a street lighting column cut down.
Wouldnt like to say how many posts you need though, depends on the weight and total area of the sign. ( I Would guess that your going to need a fair bit of concrete for that though)

My steel stockist keeps galvanized tube in 7.5 mtr lengths. Hire a hole boring tool from you local builders merchant and loads of concrete -
