Laminator problems
Hi folks, haven’t been on in ages. We had a fire in the workshop which has been pretty much occupying most of my time, but we’re back in action and production!
Lately we’ve been having some problems with our Ability 1600 wide laminator (it hasn’t been smoke damaged). The heater is off, we’ve tried with a variety of media/laminates and the print has had more than long enough to out-gas.
Laminating process starts as normal, but, maybe 1000mm into the process the print itself, not the laminate, begins to "crinkle". We’ve balanced the top roller and checked the condition of the rollers and can’t seem to find an obvious fault.
I know a few of you guys have asked for an opinion on the machine and subsequently bought one, so has anyone else had any similar problems?

Can you snap a photo of whats happening?
And is it always the same material?

sounds like the backing paper is being affected buy the high humidity. just a thought

Thanks Chris/Scot,
We brought in an engineer who took the machine to pieces. It turned out that one of the bolts used for adjusting the top roller had sheared. Can’t find a reason for this happening but it was obviously causing uneven pressure across the top roller, hence the wrinkling at one side. Thanks for the suggestions.

I get this from time to time with the same machine what i have found that sorts it is when the release paper gets to thick on the roller you have to keep it down to a bear minimum it worked for me anyway!
