laminating contra vision vinyl is going misty why?
Posted by Ian Higgins on 21 June 2006 at 20:06Hi all,
I have done a couple of jobs using contra vision but I have just done one and had to laminate it.. the problem is that when I apply it to glass it is misty and you can not see through it.
How do others get over this problem? any advice appreciated
Cheers

just patience, is all you need

Ian, what laminate did you use. Was it specifically for the contra vision ie crystal clear?

Hi Shane,
It was Metamark we use for vehicle wrapping, ultra clear.
Is there a special one for contra vision then??Cheers

I have no experience of laminating contra vision, but dont see how it could be done succesfully, when applying to glass it would be impossible to get the laminate to conform to the holes, and get anyway near optical clear? Would it not be better to print onto crystal clear vinyl and use signlabs window wizard?

Hi peter,
I am on Signlab 7.1 and this does not have the window wizard.
I guess everyone who uses contra vision must not laminate it then..
Cheers for the suggestion anyway

If you have 7.1 print and cut. you will have it. as I said, dont have any experience of contravision, only what I have seen on buses. dont know how a laminate would work?

IanI don’t know about metamark, but Oracal do a crystal clear laminate for their one way vision.
I don’t use it because of the expense, buy I may buy some in to try on my own van. The rep tells me that it is very good tho.
