    hi guys

i have a 3mm foamex sign im making which is 15ft x 2ft. i have two sheets of 7.5ft x 2ft so they will join in the middle. is there any kind of extrusion/trim/plastic i can use to join up the two halves so they are more secure?

this particular sign slide into a ‘mini-trim frame’, so how do i ensure the join is secure?

    best regards

Put a panel down the back of the join with d/s tape.

    rebate the edges
and use spring tensioners in the end of the frame

I would have to say you should NOT be using 3mm foamex for this size of sign mate. further more, you should not be using mini-trim either.

to join it, you could use a strip of any decent rigid flat material using a good bonding double sided tape. this isn’t ideal, but it will be as strong as much the rest of the sign because this is definitely going to fail come winter, if not before.

sorry to be so negative mate, but would rather point this out to save you headache further down the line.

Absolutely Robert, even with a hanging strip it’d be pretty risky, as they say, "one guest of wind" Make sure your public liability is paid up too.

    ah drats
forgot to add, its a temp sign and INDOORS
the materials should be up to the budget hopefully

ill try the double-sided tape, but thanks for the suggestions, i think 5mm would be better of course
