Jinka Goldcut JK870 – What software do i use?
Posted by Craig Barnshaw on 17 November 2009 at 19:49Hi everyone, I’ve just purchased a Jinka Goldcut JK870 from ebay and I’ve not recieved any software for it, I’ve spoken to a few people that have cutters and they have reconmended using artcut, I’ve got a trial version of signcut X2 however the cutter isn’t supported in the list, is there a compatible cutter I can select from the list in signcut X2 or is there any free software available on the net that I can test the cutter out with?
Thanks

Welcome to the world of sign making.
I’m sure you got a bargain with your Plotter.
It may be a good idea to say hello and tell us about your self and what experience you have in our field, before asking for advice.Peter

Hi peter, I’m completley new to this field really, I’ve had a lot of experience in the past using plotters for design work using CAD software but this is a new thing for me. As for the computer side of things I’m quite good at getting things to work and I hope to be making a go of creating stickers first of all for my other businesses and then hoping to progress on to creating them on a proffesional level as a viable business.
Thanks.

I’m not really bothered what it costs, probably around £300, but I do need to know what I’ll be purchasing is going to work for me.
Thanks.

How many other business’s do you have?
If you have more than one I would have thought you should have realised that buying cheap kit from ebay is not the way to go, why not just outsource your stickers?
just my opinion thoughPeter

Hi peter,
I would have gone out and spent a whole lot of cash if I knew that what i was doing would be cost effective. I initially wanted to test things out before i committed to spending a lot.
Thanks

Craig can I ask what area your other business’s are in?

I own a bodyshop doing accident repairs and I also own an Inflatable Hire business. The vinyl idea really got me thinking as I do hill climbing events quite often.

Craig its quite common for people to come into signs via the motor trade, quite a few examples on the boards that have, including myself.
but as a tradesman you should know that cheap tools are false economy,
you must be aware that if I said I could do steering alignment with a bit of string, would your body shop help me to set it up?buy the proper kit and software if want to do the job right.
good luck with your jinka.

Hi Craig,
Sorry if the reply is a bit late for this topic but i dont think you will find any other software to support this cutter, i too have the jinka which works perfectly well on artcut but the only problem is artcut is basic and only tends to work for about 6 months then it seems like you have to purchase a new copy as the verification cd just gives up!
If you are just using it for getting to grips with the vinyl process and making basic stuff then artcut will work just fine and although the more experienced people on here will just laugh at your machine it will get you through the learning curve without spending a fortune then you can decide where you want to go next before paying four figures.Steve

not sure if this issue has been resolved, it has been a while, I have one of the JINKA GOLDCUT JK871 and in the manual it says:
Language: DMPL / HPGL
Compatible software: FLEXIsign, CorelDRAW, Mastercutter etc.
Cheers, Mark.

Hi Lordmpl
If my post stays on here long enough before it gets deleted as the all seem to is the manual for the jinka of any use as i never had one with mine?
I have tried the coreldraw but have had no success.Steve

To cut from Coreldraw or Adobe Illustrator you would need to use a bridge program like Cocut………any dedicated signmaking software will output in HPGL( may be listed as a Hewlet Packard driver) or DMPL
As always with Chinese machines you need to know a bit about them and how they work to set them up.

As far as I know that machine should work with artcut and flexsign under one of the graphtec vinyl cutter drivers! And some proper messing about with ports cables etc, there is a UK website with support for these but for the life of me I can’t remember it!
If you can afford it mate get it sold and try to buy a reputable cutter with decent software it will save you more in time and heartache.

Mine is working from signcut x2 output from corel to this…
Not sure i will look later, mine is running with drivers for a redsail.
Dont have the complete manual, just a photocopied page..
Cheers, Mark.

Dont get me wrong when i purchased the cutter i thought i was going to set the world on fire as you do but realising fast that its not just the cutter that you need, Personally i only use the cutter for basic stuff like sand blasting stencils and motorcycle logos and the jinka really does give some good results considering its the very cheap end of the market. I will look into the coreldraw route as it seems the easiest way to produce better results.

Set the world on fire? Take my advice mate, set fire to the Jinka! 😉
