  • is this application ‘alert-is’ a safe one?

Following on from the virus problems last week, I keep getting alerts – this one is a ‘HIPS application contol alert’, and the message reads: is3updater.exe
    c:\program files\common files\is3\anti-spyware

Can anyone tell me if I should allow this through or block it?

I really need to get someone in to look at the computer! 👿

are you running the S3 anti virus? Its a free version I think

The HIPs error relates to a firewall alert I’d suggest.

Given its home on your hard drive, I’d say its a legit message, and I’d allow it.

    Google that line: c:\program files\common files\is3\anti-spyware

It does suggest across various forums that it may be a trojan virus.

..or are you using Stopzilla anti spyware software? is3updater.exe file is the updating application IS3 uses.

I think you’ll find its the exe file that is in that line of text Nigel.

exe files commonly contain virus, but the updater file is legit from what I’ve tried to find out, as Derek Poon says, its part of a virus program that is available.

I guess lorraine needs to find out if she is running that anti virus to know for sure.
