the people you purchased it from should be able to point you to a wide vinyl supplier?

can’t help you of course, but someone should know here.

welcome to the boards too 😛

Dont want to sound out of order, but if I was spending big money on a wide printer, I would have looked at material supply before purchasing.
    just advice for anyone.

my thoughts also…..would have done my homework before buying, as i take it your printer wasnt cheap stepen, but dont worry someone on the boards will hopefully get you a supplier 😉

My big question would be how easy is it to lift a 50m roll of vinyl 3.2 M in length. I struggle to lift a 715mm roll of vinyl and I’m no wimp 😕

If you can afford a printer this large, you should also be able to afford the mechanical handler, or labour to load it for you,

Thanks Dave, do you buy direct from Dicksons or through someone else?

We’ve been using a lot of Zerox banner, but always on the look out for another supplier!

Hello and many thanks for the replies

The printer is mainly for backlit banners and building wraps. We have a soljet for our vinyl work. I was just curious about 3.2 metre wide vinyl , for timesaving reasons.

When you buy new machinery your are always looking for the maximum capabilites. When we purchased our soljet , for all our prior research we never thought we would be using it for contravision, canvas and mesh prints . it was bought mainly for printed foamex panels and posters..

In response to dave we have just purchased the new DGI machine from Grafityp. we should have it installed within the next few weeks

Grafityp are regular posters here I suspect they will have some suggestions for you.

Good luck with you new purchase. Is the DGI UV based or solvent?

    Full solvent Dave 😀

Our production plant in Belgium say in reference to 3.2 mtr wide vinyl, they cannot get the backing paper supplied in that width hence they cannot produce 3.2 wide media.

    Happy to oblige

sounds very interesting, also Nigel, think you lot need to source wider materal, sounds like an empty marketplace then.

It is the polajet. It is there latest machine, info can be found on grafityp website. We went out to Korea with Joe from grafityp. And were all very impressed, compared to our soljet it is absolutely huge, 5 metres wide, 2 metres high. Of course our budget coudn’t stretch to the Nur or Scitex machines . But we did view two other machines, one being the Keundo SupraQ, and found the DGI to be better and a lot cheaper. It is being shipped from Korea at the moment and should be with us shortly
