    Ey up chuffers,

Haven’t been around for ages, been very busy and my wife had a new baby too! Just got back from Sheffield Streetfighters where one of my bikes was on show, the Sibling R1, it’s on me website if you want to see, plus some new-ish Lord of the Rings airbrush art on a GSXR tank.

I was wondering.. is there a UK meet for artists/sign folks & pinstripers?? Neil Melliard mentioned something to me a few weeks ago and I wondered if anyone else knows or does anything.

I have taken the plunge and gone back into airbrushing full time now, just moving into a new garage/spray booth where the booth is big enough to take a car so I’m very excited about that.

    Talk soon

You were just so excited that you got trigger-happy Brian!
Please get these folks riled up enuff to have a meet.
You might want to contact Ashley Bishop or David Kynaston, they have been to USA meets.
    Good luck.
    Love jill

    Thanks Jill,

I think there seems to be a real new ‘interest’ in custom work and pinstriping here. I’ve been a signwriter since 1980 altho I did get more into computers like a lot of us did, I’ve gone heavily back to paint/airbrushing and I really want to be proficient at striping. I figured that with years of signwriting experience, it would be easy to pickup! I was wrong!

Met some great airbrush artists at bike shows recently and they are all so busy so it must say something, sales of airbrushes in the last 10 months have gone up dramatically too apparently.

So come on fellow UK-ers, I’m in if you are.

Hi beej, with reference to a uk letterheads meet I’ve contacted all the usuals such a Dave Kinaston, Ashley, Pete Milichamp and even Neil M and Jon Leeson and Alan Brindle at sign uk they’re the people who would have known but it seems nobody is up for hosting a meet this year. It’s a monsterous task and I know some who have hosted meets have nearly gone to the wall because of the time it takes up

Heard that there will be a meet in the Trossachs
    in May of 2006.
Was kinda waiting for the guys that are hosting to post some info.
But that oughta whet your appetites!
Stevo and I are definately going to try and make it!
    Love….Jill

Hope big stewart doesn’t mind me posting this on his behalf cos I’ve never seen him on these boards, the 2006 meet is being hosted by Stewart and Avril McLaren and is to be in Callander just outside Stirling the dates are 11th-12th and 13th May. His last meet (Brave Art ) was a blast and a truly international meet with heads from as far away as Hawaii and Austrailia. this guy knows how to out on a meet!!!!

    Hi chaps,

Neil is holding some meets this month and I’m considering going to the Poole one. I think they are more workshops than jams but what the hell! I’m dying to pull some lines with someone who actually knows what he’s doing 🙂

You talking about Poole in Dorset, Beej?

Yes it’s Poole in Dorset. It’s a Pinstriping meet and tutorial. Here is info from prosign1.com’s website (I am positive I put the link here last night but someone has edited it out? (why?):

Neil has been striping commercially for at least 15 years in the UK ,the USA, Australia and Europe and has met many great stripers. We have invited a few along…

Jon Leeson from Leicester is a fantastic pinstriper and signwriter , and will be attending the Leicester workshop.

Artie Schilling from New Jersey….[.who Neil striped with at Bike Week in Myrtle Beach .S.C] and who runs a sign and striping shop in South Carolina……will attend one workshop.

Peter Anthony is a top Aussie signwriter, designer and striper , who now lives in surrey ….will hopefully come to a couple

    £110 for the day

Here’s a few pics of Saturdays meeting, top left John Leeson (http://www.letterknight.co.uk) chatting up the female participants, bottom left overall view with Neil Melliard doing his best to look intelligent with a trainee, large photo of the top of Neils head, it was a really great day, thanks to Neil and Mandy, John & Pete for all the instructive comments and I hope it didn’t take you too long to get the paint off the floor :lol1: oh and thanks for all the sarnies, coffee and kitkats 😀

Beej if you do this weekends one then you’re in for a treat mate as there are a couple of american stripers coming too.

I think its called a “Tickle in the trossachs……..” although I’m still keen to do something to encourage newcomers and youngsters from outside the trade…get some new blood interested.

WOW! I am totally flattered you mentioned me and Mike L. in the same sentance, that is a very big compliment, thank you. He is a great inspiration to me. 🙂 How can I say no now?

Of course, it would be my pleasure (and I won’t have to pay then I guess? ;))
