Adrian, I use alot of Metamark 7 series vinyl but don’t use it in recesses.

They do a cast vinyl so go for that.

as neil says, safest bet is a cast vinyl.
however, even a cast, like many wraps, will struggle in recesses like you find on an older shape ford transit side panels. be careful, use a temp gauge if possible.

so the like of merc vitos and sprinters with a text running from one end of van to other over the panels you wouldn’t recommend?

In my opinion unless it’s a wrap or you need to stretch the material into the recess, there is no need to use a cast. If there is lettering, tear the tape and push in the vinyl. Basically make the vinyl fit the contours without stretching.

Unless you want to stock cast in every colour you might use on a van then this works fine. I’ve seen vans we done years ago and are still fine. If in doubt give your customer the price difference and your almost gauranteed to get away without using cast! (remember how long most people are likely to keep there vans and don’t overspeck the job!)

    Just my tuppence
