Is it snowing yet?
Posted by Mark Shipley on 18 November 2004 at 10:26I was just wondering if the weathermen have got it right – is it snowing anywhere in the UK yet?

Not yet…… but it feels like we may see some snow before the day is out. It’s freezing here, we’re just between Glasgow and Stirling and sit quite high so snow is not uncommon here.
It smells like it’s going to snow…. 😕Marcella

my hair & lucy’s is very static today (an old wives tale but it works) which means it’s going to snow 😉

Hi Nik,
I’ve been telling the dogs all day it’s going to snow – they love the stuff (almost as much as I do).
I wonder if we ask Rob nicely enough we can have a ‘snow balling’ emoticon? :thumbup2:
Mark

My wife had to drive home through falling snow this afternoon – and that was on the North Wales coast! I’d take supplies if I were you – enjoy! 😀

Those roads have some steep hills, have to take it easy, will have our 3 kids with us too, hopefully our Gas guzzler, Grand Voyager is up to it?Mike I see from your website your in LLandudno, not been there for about 20 years! Has it changed much? 🙂 I grew up on The Wirral!

A light dusting of snow last night. But that’s all we ever get here.
When I was much younger I used to make a fortune, at ten shillings a time, pulling cars up the hill through the village with an old Land Rover instead of going to school, but we just don’t get the snow any more.
-
in just 18 hours we got 25-30 mm of snow…it was a total mess on the roads, cars allover…but not on the road…
This is what it looks like today:

Hi Fredrik,
Many thanks for the pictures – today’s image is fantastic. Is that the view from your place?
The entire UK comes to a complete standstill with just a light dusting of snow – the trains don’t work, the airports close and the roads become giant carparks (nothing new there I guess).
Where I live, people think ice on the roads means drive faster and red lining the engine to get the wheels spinning faster is the only way to move a car stuck in snow – it’s great fun watching them in a morning.
Oh and the kettle of water over the windscreen brigade make me laugh 😀 I keep waiting for that nice cracking sound 🙄
Anyways must get on.

The sun is shining here this morning …… no snow not one flake.
Carrie 😀

Still no snow in our part of Somerset………..it’s sunny but cold

Who switched the damn heating off!!!!!!! 👿
I woke up this morning to find my car had frozen into a solid block of ice, the locks on my gates had icicles on them and after 20 minutes of trying to get in the car (eventually climbing through the boot) I ended up screaming ‘ANTIFREEZE’! Guess who forgot 😳
As Mark says, a bit of ice on the roads and its like stock car racing… everyone seems determined to up thier insurance bills. On the bright side though, at least I have decent tyres on this car, I wouldn’t fancy my previous racing slicks on the roads today 😮
Still no snow though 🙁
Cheers, Dewi

thanks for reminding me dewi – idid a hose on the car in the summer and just filled it up so just ordered the anti-freeze – not that cold down here yet

Hi Mark
You lucky thing………it’s still sunny down here. I’d love it to snow…….building snow people – got to be politically correct – with the kid’s, snow ball fights, long walks with the family & dogs, roasted chestnuts on an open fire…….oh well, we can all dream…better get back to work??
Regards

Cough: A thin film of frost on the windscreen this morning for the first time this year – Must mean Winters on its way :lol1:

Yeah John, it’s alright for you Londoners. You’re nearer the equator than us lot. In Wellingborough it’s bloody freezing. Is it usually this cold in November? Must be global warming…..or something…..quick, whack another 20p on a litre of petrol.

We have a couple of degrees of smog, exhausts build up and general population density ahead of everybody else
