Is it possible to sharpen the cutter blade?
Posted by Earl Smith on 17 March 2009 at 09:33Going through my box of cutting blades (drag knives) I didn’t realise how many blunt ones I have. Is it possible to sharpen them or do I just go on buying new ones when they get blunt?

Not a keen fanof Chinese stuff of course but I got 12 blades for about £12 off ebay and they are not bad at all.
As to sharpening, not really by yourself but strangely I used to find if I used the old ones to cut reflective it used to sharpen them up quite a bit.

The link Neil put on for Edward Mathias is great. We use their blades in all our machines and when blunt, send them off to them and they send us back resharpened ones. Great service.

Not wrong, spent ages talking to Harry yesterday. Suspect a bit of early St Patricks day frivolity unless he always talks the same :lol1: :lol1:

Long time answering and saying thanks. Spoke with Harry, turned out he was in the forces and lived on the same base as I did when younger. Small world.
Received the blades and they work really well. Thanks for the tips.

There is something to the observation the bits seem to sharpen up on reflective tape. When my gas powered diamond saw ‘dulls’ I sharpen it up by cutting into a conc. block to strip away some of the blade matrix.
