yes and don’t forget to turn the pressure down when you use it.

oh wow!! where can i buy one?? and what pressure do you use??

yeah there will be plotter pens available from Roland or Roland agents…
i think you get a pack of three. i might be wrong but last we bought them from graphtec there was 3 colours.
we use them for creating paper templates for flat cut dibond letters and logos etc not expensive either…i remember for a year or two i was using a couple of ball point pens. yes i know i know, dont laugh! :lol1: seriously though…
just take the ink stick from the likes of a cheap bic pen. cut the pen down to the same size/height of the blade holder. then pop the ink stick part back in the pen shaft. now just bend the ink stick/tube over on itself and run a few times round it with soft vinyl or insulating tape. pop it into the blade holder clamp on the machine and tighten slightly. the machine will run exactly the same and the ball point pen will far outlast the felt tip pens you get for the machine. make sure the pressure isnt too high though or the ink wont flow correct and you will get some faint lines. but after a quick test it will be spot on. anyway, just a quick fire way if you ever find yourself stuck for a pen for your machine. as you can tell i got caught on the hopp once and this is what i did, but ended up using it for ever… :lol1: -
Thanx Robert and Chris.
This seems like a wise idea and may give it a go. Some local printers based near me were doing architecture plans and it appeared worth doing. Also seems a good idea for patterns for clothing 😀
This just gets better everytime!!

if you want to take that a stage further you can use the perf cut of VW3 to cut the patterns.
most architectural drawings i do are full colour so print them.

A useless bit of penny-pinching advice…..
If the pen runs dry, remove the sponge inside, cut off the piece of plastic jut under the tip, and drill a hole the same diametre as a BIC (or symilar) pen refil. Drill the same size hole in the cap at the back, and push through the ballpoint pen refill. (Cut the ink tube to fit inside your cutter / printer)Lasts 10x longer than the original, and no running around looking for a pen ever again. Also uses the same pressure setting as your vinyl cutting, so no forgetting to re ajust after using the pen..
I’ve been using a thus modified pen for the past 10 years, plotting god knows how many stencills for wall signs.
