is it possible to cut/slit a roll of vinyl?

To do it properly it needs to be slit in a linear manner, rather than just lathed straight through the roll. I reckon most vinyl suppliers use lathes, which does not give a perfectly consistant cut.

I’d ring a few vinyl suppliers and ask them if they can do what you’re asking for. Ask them if they slit, rather than lathe. It will cost you more as it takes a fair bit longer to do.

You could buy a slitter, but it is an expensive bit of kit (10s of thousands), at least the ones I’ve seen are.

There are other trades that use the same sort of kit, like paper convertors etc but I should think you’d need to be having some serious quantities done to make it financially viable.

Try Metamark, I think they will slit to custom sizes for you, they do use slitters rather than lathes

is definately something you will pay extra for… i had about a dozen logs cut down about six months back. each one was a different size/width leaving me individual rolls at 50 metres
europoint did it for me but i dont know if it was more a favour or a service they offer.

I shall certainly be on the phone Monday to Eurpoint and metamark
I checked out metamarks site and they certainly are offering to slit ap-tape so I hope they will do the same for vinyl

It would be nice to have my own slitter Didn’t realise they would be that expensive!!

Hi guys

Spoke to both Europoint and Metamark Monday and both will slit vinyl for me but Metamark will do it for free and also sell 25m Roll Striping of 6 of there products from 3mm to 150mm. So I couldnt ask for more (looks like Meatmark is now my new supplier) Thanks Martin, Nice one.

Rob, I must say although I went with Metamark, the Guys at EuroPoint Bristol were very helpfull on this and someother stuff I need and would Highly Recomend them

Are Metamark a UKSG supplier????
