After 3 days since a clean installation the vinyl is lifting in some spots. Is it normal for minor lifting with this material?

The installation was done indoors at room temp and vehicle was cleaned throughly with alcohol and car wash soap.

    any help would be great

    thanks
    mike

    Michael,
I’m certainly not the vinyl expert here, but you said you cleaned the surface with alcohol and car wash soap. In that order? My guess would be the soap laid down a film, maybe a silicone or similar coating, maybe to stop water spotting or to repel dirt, and it’s repelling your vinyl.

I agree someone is wrong with your preparation.

Where is it lifting? Edges? Or when you guys heated it up and pushed it in?

I imagine that specific car wash soap also contains wax.
If this is the case then you will have problems.
Also watch out for any silicone treatments such as dressing on black parts (trims/mirrors etc) which will cause massive problems around those areas.

did you use the ‘command’ spray that they promote with the non-ra product?

I’ve used this stuff a fair bit. I’d agree it is probably in your preparation, because applied correctly, it sticks very well, remembering to heat recesses to 100 deg.

Using alchol or ipa can also leave a film, always best to polish the surface with a soft lint free dry rag as the final step.
