    Hi everyone 😀
Run out of my supplied ink (came with my second-user Sp 540v) so I was wondering if anyone knows where to get a good price on the eco-sol max inks for the Roland.
I’m not sure if Rob has reached a deal with the UKSG potential supplier of ink, yet. Any news? I know it’s in the pipeline but can’t wait.
    Cheers chaps and chapesses

    Thanks Guys.
Forgive my ignorance, but my carts biggest size is 440ml (I think) so is the litre for bulk ink systems? and is activasol just a brand of eco-sol max?

Activasol is the full solvent uniform ink and yes 1 ltr is for bulk systems

Genuine or not they must not be put into a Versacamm that has not been converted.

    You need Ecosol Max inks.

    Try:

    Spire Digital 01380 871962

    Printmax 0870 0200 090

    Forgiven.

1 litre is for bulk systems.

Activasol is a mild solvent ink from B & P for use in their converted printers. It was a clever innovation prior to Ecosol Max inks as Activasol was much more durable. Many of us do not think it is superior to EcoSol Max inks. I have "converted" my Cadet back and abandoned Activasol and the related problems it causes. I also believe that EcoSol Max has better more vivid colours. The 2 inks are not compatible and have completely different ICC profiles.

I have bought genuine Ecosol-max 440ml carts from Spandex at £70 a cart only last week. Best price I have found.

I have seen the ones from spandex, they would not say 100% that they were genuine, and Roland say I will not get my warranty if I use them.

This is a totally unsatisfactory situation to occur in our industry. I have always presumed that Roland would protect their name and brand, therefore I assume EcoSol Max is their copyright.

This should indicate that any non-genuine cartridges are labelled as to what they are. If they are labelled to say they are EcoSol Max from Roland, they are forgeries which I would have thought are as illegal as a forged Rolex watch.

If they are grey imported Roland cartridges, then Roland should not have a problem with the warranty.

Spandex needs to clarify exactly what they are selling.

Well Roland do not know were Spandex are getting them from, I have not seen a cart yet and was hoping Mike Grant could shed some light on it for me.

Played safe and went with Printmax. At least you know there is no grey area and they are ‘genuine’ carts. Can you tell them apart (Spandex carts, if they are not genuine) from originals by sight? Or do you just hope they are genuine?

Quite right Chris, but they were the company that sold me the unit and if I can’t trust them, then it is truly a sorry state of affairs.

The carts I have from Spandex are identical in every way to the ones I got from Granthams. Which in turn are identical (except in length) to the 220ml carts I got direct from Roland.

I have received today my 220ml carts from Printmax. They do have Roland DG Corporation printed on them. However, the ones that came with the unit had ROLAND across the top in a yellow sticker which went the length of the cart. These do not. The other carts were 440ml whilst these are 220ml. Does your 220ml carts have the Roland yellow sticker across the top Mike?
Am I being unduly paranoid about getting genuine inks since this thread began? It’s just that to lose the warranty would be nightmare if you have not deliberately invalidated it.

That’s good to hear, don’t know why can’t Spandex say that then?

    Nick.

I’ll have a good look over the carts tomorrow. I have no reason to think they are different, I can usually spot a difference at 50 paces, but until I read this thread…..well you never know, so I will check it out tomorrow.

OK, good news the carts are identical in every way even down to the Japanese characters printed on the labels. The only extra stickers on the carts are Spandex’s own stock sort code label wot-sits thingamajigs.

makes you wonder why the hell they dont just say "yeh they are 100% genuine Roland ink" ? 😕

thanks for clearing that up mike. much appreciated mate…

Thanks Mike. I suppose the reason that the other carts had a Roland sticker on them was because they were from …er Roland 😳 🙂

Thanks Mike, that’s a great help, not sure why Spandex could not just say that 😕
