IMS ISO 9001 CERTIFIED LOGO
Posted by ian rankin on 6 February 2004 at 12:51I have a job which requires the IMS ISO 9001 certified logo. It also has a crown with a tick under and ukas at the bottom. I think it is health service related. Any help with all or part of this logo would be appreciated.

Hi Ian, you could try this site http://www.iso.ch/iso/en/ISOOnline.frontpage
Do remeber, even though the company you are doing work for may use the logo, you will still need permission to use it for any purpose, i fell foul of this a while back and got a very nice letter.

Ian…
Why do you need it? I ask because I think you will find that the crown and tick part should not appear on vehicles, it’s for stationery and literature sort of thing only. The rules may have changed recently but it might be a good idea for you to check.
Gazza…
What was the problem with you making the logos? We make them all of the time and don’t have permission from anybody.

Ian, The company I work for is ISO9001 accredited by Lloyds Registers.
John’s right about different forms of the logo. We had both forms of the logo supplied to us by Lloyd’s Rgisters as a TrueType font, with precise use instructions.
Your client should have been provided with the same informaton from their accreditation authority.

Hi John, artwork i had done for a small engineering company included the logo and a few other ref’s to ISO standards. It looked clean and presentable and the bloke said yeah, fine and paid me for it. He went to the printers, got a few thousand done and everybody was happy. That was until he sent a letter to the ISO agency using the letterhead (dunno what was on the letter) and they gave him grief for unauthorised use of the logo, they in turn sent me a letter telling me i had also used the logo without their permission and were considering legal action! The agency also said that should i wish to use the logo in future, i would have to apply for permission and all stationary, etc, should be submitted for approval before printing. Now at the time there was a rumble in the agency of companies using the logo who weren’t certified and whether or not this had anything to do with it i don’t know. So i was under the impression that permission was req’d.

I don’t know about the usage problems Gazza mentioned, sounds like we need to be a bit careful though 😉Nigel

Interesting. (Yes, I know I don’t get out much)
As far as I was aware a company had the automatic right to display their accreditation body’s logo. Always provided of course that they met the requirements for registration and followed the guidelines for the use of the logo that always comes with the welcome pack. Things like colour, free space around the logo and stuff like that.
My company has been accredited by two different bodies in the past and in both cases we received artwork and guidelines and were left to get on with it.

Thanks for all replies advice and artwork. My client is a local Health Board and the guy we are dealing with, decided at the last minute to add the ISO 9001 logo to the door of the health promotional vehicle. He gave us the logo as a poor quality Jpeg so I was just trying to reduce the work by requesting for help. It has certainly raised a few questions as to what can and cannot go on vehicles. I will raise these with him on Monday as I’m sure he won’t want any bother with these guys, and I will be guided by his
decision.
Thanks again Ian Rankin
