Impact vehicle outline question (I’m probably being thick)
Posted by Nick Minnery on 3 June 2013 at 09:01I’ve just purchased Impact Vehicle Outlines.
Now, say I want to colour the back half/third of a van blue, how would I go about doing that?
Sorry if I’m being a bit thick, but there’s no instructions of how to do it.
Cheers!
Nick

Not something I have ever had to do Nick, easy enough to change the colour of the whole van by just selecting the outline vector & selecting colour but just a part of that would require you to copy the outline vector & then edit it to whatever shape you wanted it to be, colour it & then put it to the back of the outline if that makes sense??

Thanks Martin. Yes I think I know what you mean. I’ve just tried that, not really getting anywhere to be honest! I think I’ll just get a blue felt pen and draw on the monitor!

What software are you using?
In Flexisign I would create the effect I wanted separately, lay it on top of the vehicle outline, select all then "mask" in the arrange menu.
I am sure Phil did a tutorial on this a while back using Corel?

in corel I simply break apart the outline, duplicate the main outline, lay over the area I want to collour, weld>intersect, move the orginal bit away and you’re left with the cut out bit – which you can colour any way you choose and then lay over the original (re grouped) outline again.
