impact car outline software on a mac with illistrator
Hi, anyone using impact vehicle outline templates on a mac with illustrator, im having a problem getting the files to open at the correct size.
Appreciate any help

Yes use them all the time on macs, they are scaled 20:1 so before cutting you need to upsize by 2000% to get the correct size.

Kevin thanks for that. When I open into illustrator the page size is only 5000 X 5000 not Corel which is unlimited. How do you do large vehicle sides. Work in areas thing I like about this site is honest answers with no slagging off only honest help. Cheers

If u open up in 1/20 size ai file, do all design in small size. Then select the design ( not vehicle outline) , And copy and paste the design to a fresh page so original is still there and scale to 2000% there then it will size up with no probs, it’s only the outline of the vehicle that causes the size problem but u shouldn’t need to enlarge that part, hope this helps, let us know if any probs,

If a large spread design and you get pop up says can’t do as design will fall off page then just bunch up the design to centre of page and re try hope this helps

Don’t know if it’s just me but when I use Impact I have to scale to 1950% otherwise the graphics are too big !

One Thing I did find doing this is don’t use the cutter to up scale. I used to keep all my design work on a separate layer then turn the vehicle off group together and then send to cutter with cutter set to 2000%. With recent upgrades in graphtec software they have a bug that causes the upsize to make the corners and rounded lines very choppy like your upsizing a tiny document over the size it should be. They told me to upsize in illustrator before sending and this cured the problem 100%.
Like Lee says whilst this is great software it is only aprox keep your artwork clear from edges or reduce the enlarge a little to 1950 to ensure your not going over the top of joins etc when fitting as they are not made mm perfect.
