Image Technique – Harrods – YourBlog

THE STORY
Harrods’ new store is a distinct departure from the airport retailing norm, at the centre of the new terminal it has an 82M-long open front with highly polished white fixtures and extensive use of plasma screens that have been built into the walls, rather than added after construction.

THE BRIEF
Image Technique were invited to convert into reality the conceptual designs for the two main fascia signs, both in excess of 30 metres long with illuminated Harrods letters and an animated ‘slipstream’ pattern effect.

THE RESULT
The fascia signs were folded from aluminium and powder coated white with over 4000 individual LED units pushed through the panel, powered by 80 converters and over 16,000 metres of low-smoke cable, all animated by a specially designed control unit to achieve the desired effect. At the ends of each fascia there is a set of gold stainless steel letters that are face and halo illuminated with LED.
