Image Perfect Profiles for RS-640
Posted by David Hammond on 31 August 2011 at 11:40Spandex have quoted me some fantastic prices for poster paper, and I am just printing some tests off to see how they print compared to metamark.
Registered with their GerberNet service to get the profiles, only to find that I cannot download profiles for the RS-640.
I have downloaded profiles for other printers but they don’t show up when I try and select it from the media settings in versa works.
Am I missing something?

yeah, spandex dont sell rolands so not interested in profiling them
however they subcontract profiles measuring out to some european country, they do it on their behalf but mainly for the equipment they sell
-
Yep- A shame really as the materials ok, just can’t be bothered messing about to save a couple of quid a roll.
-
Yeah, it looks like they only have the vp/sp 300 & 540 profiles online.
I would give them a quick call just in case.
I’ve only just started using some of spandex’s products myself and  so far

I have spoken to them – They told me to use the Versa Cam Profiles, but they don’t work with the Versa Art. My Rep there worked for Roland and has e-mailed me a profile from Rolands website- it isn’t for their media.
I know I could probably find one to work with it, but it seems a lot of messing about when Metamark I can download without any trouble.
I got a sample of their 210gsm Satin poster paper as it’s about £30 cheaper per roll, compared to the Metamark 220gsm satin paper it’s a lot glossier. Don’t want to change and have customers questioning the change. I am seriously considering stocking the blue back paper, and offering a cheaper poster option to my price list.
What Products are you using???

Sorry David missed your question, the 120g IP2404 blue back and 200g IP2408 heavy poster paper with extremely good results. I’ve also got some of their roll up media to try out (IP2903)
I can see us moving over to a lot of their products because of the good pricing and top service from them.

I had another sample from Pyramid of their 120gsm, blue back.
100m for £80. But it’s utter shite.
You can’t handle the stuff without putting creases into it.
Pyramid are doing a crystal roll up material at a good price too, so going to try that out I think.
I’m on a mission lately, changing suppliers, currently trying some ‘Eco Pro’ ink for Granthams.

changing ink? oh well u wont find profiles to match then
-
I’ve never been a fan of 3rd party inks, quite often it doesn’t work out to be a good saving later down the road 😕
-
They’ve been pestering me to try them- so I’ve got two to run alongside my Roland inks.
TBH- Not a happy bunny because after I’ve paid postage I might as well have just bought the rolands. 😀
They claim they’re plug and play, no messing about needed.
I’m not overly impressed with their packaging either – I’ll need to be extra vigilant when changing them as it’s only a small dot that distinguishes the colour.
When they arrived in a padded envelope I was surprised.
I think i’ll do some test prints now with the roland inks and see how they look with 2 3rd parties. I am not holding my breath.
Spandex dont supply profiles for the Versa Art, so got some off the roland site that are working, with good results.
