im having problems with 48" vinyl rolls any advice?
Hi everyone, new to this forum. We supply and fit 3M Scotchgard paint protection film to all types of vehicles. One of the the most recent additions to the range of film that we use, is rolls of 48" width. It would appear from posts on our forum, that some guys are having problems with the roll of film ‘telescoping’ as it nears the end of the roll.
I will paste here one of the comments from one of the distributors, and hope that someone out here can suggest a remedy. This film is hellishly expensive, and every bit needs to be utilized where possible.Hi Guys
Question to the Graphics guys out there. Those of us new to handling large logs of film are beginning to encounter some painful little realities.
Mainly two real Pigs.
Firstly removeing film on and off the plotter can cause core slipage (cone effect at one end)
Also when you get towards the end of a roll you often have enough film for at least a kit and a half. However there is no way the film will stay on the bars or not slip when feeding when you get down to those levels.
I already know what the soulution may be but do not know where to source them. Basically some signage companies that do vinyl wrapping over here, use like plastic dumbells inserted into the cores. Rather like the shipping protectors but round. This allows the film to spin and stay put as if it was a full roll and if inserted in place of the packing pieces prevents core slippage as they have a bar that passes through the core and you screw them into place.
Question where do you guys get these things??
Anyone have a solution to this??
