Here is a little job I did for a couple of mates which turned into an absolute nightmare because they were on a shoe string budget, they got me drunk one night and I stupidly agreed to do their sign, breaking my No 1 rule never work for friends or family.
The sign is basically a Reynobond tray with a 150mm return. The centre section has been CNC cut with an opal acrylic insert. This sits over a pre-treated timber frame ( for a paying customer I would have had an ali frame fabricated ) it is then illuminated with standard Fluorescent tubes. The result is an expensive looking sign for a reasonable price. Shame about the rest of the building !

    Good stuff Dave,

If you don’t mind me asking, how did you keep the gear trays and tubes water tight? 😀

    Thanks everyone 🙂

Terry – It’s one tray made in 3 section.

Alistair – Basically the lighting gear is in a second tray behind the main tray. (think of a shoe box) This fits up quite tight, it has two uses A) to prevent water ingress and B) to stop light bleeding through the panel joins. It’s pretty water proof unless some aims a hose at it. . in which case there is a fireman’s switch just above the sign.

Martin – yes one of the reasons I agreed to do it !
