    Hi Guys.
just having a bit of a head scratch, as its been a while since ive done one.
i have an illuminated box fabricated up, with opal perspex.
    im running a mimaki cjv-150-160.
would you recommend printing the print on clear or white vinyl?

    Hi Shane.
Personally, I’d use a translucent white, seems to diffuse the light better. Metamark do a good one.

    Am I missing something here?
    Printing/cutting white vinyl onto
    an off-white (opal) panel?

I’m assuming he’s printing the whole panel, so I would use a translucent white rather than standard white vinyl. Works fine for us

agree with Kevin, I use the metalmark translucent and satin laminate then apply to opal acrylic, works fine

Or, if you have any, use a digital white with a clear adhesive.
What you need to be careful with is, depending on the printed graphic / image, when illuminated, it may look washed out slightly once illuminated. There are various ways you can strengthen the colours in photoshop by tweaking them.
There can be a trade-off issue though. once the colours are deepend it may look a little heavy/dark during the day.

Having tried different methods and taken advice from this board i now print on my clear laminate (polymeric). It does the job just fine.

    Same as Kevin’s advise.
