Identify – Trotec
Posted by Mike Saggers on September 8, 2010 at 9:59 amHas anyone else heard that Identify has been bought by Trotec who also recently bought Suregrave?
Identify just offered me a small Trotec machine on a "pay as you go" basis. Looks really interesting…..

From what I have heard today would make you correct Mike and Trotec do appear to have taken over Identify.

Good to see the Jater’s are still involved though

Baggsy Mayfair & Park Lane 😀
Seriously though it does narrow down the options for anyone who wants to compare laser engravers and tool engravers and who they can go to when considering a purchase/outlay for said equipment.
The next year or so will be interesting in marketing terms.

Kind words Andy – thank you.
I don’t think that peoples options have been cut much really. Suregrave were selling Universal machines but there are other Universal dealers in the UK, Identify was selling Epilog machines but I am sure it wont be long before they find another dealer over here. There are plenty of brands and suppliers available in the UK.

Dont really agree with that Nigel, you’ve only really had two brands absorbed, as Bryan said it wont be long before Epilog and Universal have other UK agents. If you’re shopping for laser machines it still leaves yours, laserites, HPC, trotec and probably countless others.
With the mill engraving machines I dont reckon any of the ones built recently match nor even come close to the ones from say 10/15 years ago, Cipher and Suregrave built some cracking little machines but now machines are built to a price point and are just not as good. Hopefully this mini shake up might make room for a new manufacture and/or range of machines.
