ICC Profile
Posted by Robert Berwick on 24 November 2005 at 13:00Does anyone have a profile they use successfully onto Grafityps Scan art Canvas with a cadet? I don’t seem to be able to get the colours to look anything like they do on the screen. Much more red in the image thats printed.
Also can anyone point me in the right direction of how to produce a pantone reference chart from the cadet?
Thanks
Robert

Why not call Joe at Grafityp about the profile. He’s always really helpful.
The only place to get Pantone reference charts is from Pantone. If you mean you want to see what colours your Cadet will print from Pantone setups, I would suggest constructing the chart in Corel using their pantone fills and then printing it.

Hi Robert, I noticed my name in the above post so I thought I’d post a reply to your problem.
Colour from screen to Canvas
Possible reason for the difference is as follows.
1. Is your monitor calibrated?
Most aren’t so the screen / video card can’t interpret the correct colour it should be displaying.2. Does the file you are trying to print have an embedded ICC profile assigned to it?
The latest of the latest scanners and digital cameras are factory calibrated, this means that when you scan or take a photo the file that is saved with the units software embeds an ICC profile so that the editing software, for instance Adobe Photoshop, knows where and what colours it has to work with.No embedded profile assigned – then you can add one in Adobe Photoshop and save the file before you send it off to your RIP.
Here’s how
A. Open your file in Adobe Photoshop
B. Go to “Image” at the top of the screen
C. Click on “Mode” and select “Assign Profile”For CMYK files try Euro scale coated V2
For RGB assign the Adobe 1998 ICC ProfileFinally save the file and send it to your RIP. In this case if you are using Art Canvas (Scan) then use the S24P for ColouRIP V2.2

Robert,
I have the pantone chart as a PDF file that you can print off in the different profiles on the cadet. If this is of any use to you, pm email addy me and i’ll email it to you.

I’m just dashing off home so haven’t had a chance to look at the replies in depth, but thanks for your time and I’ll make sure I go through them tomorrow.

The other thing that hasent been mentioned yet is how are you veiwing the images on your screen? If your software is displaying in RGB on the screen and the printer is printing in CMYK then there will be very noticable differences between what you see on the screen and what is printed.
