When I took over the company my plotter was USB driven so had to be located within distance for the wire to reach the Mac.

I have looked at getting a USB-Ethernet print server, in the hope that it would work, as you can configure the plotter using Cutting Master to use an IP address.

I ordered a Edimax PS-1206U USB2 Single Port Print Server – The grand sum of £32.36 incl VAT & delivery.

Plugged it in and has a mess around with it, It works. 😛

So I can relocate the plotter anywhere within the office! I have made a little more space now, and if I get a larger job I can move the plotter for easier access.

Just thought I would share that with you all, incase you too struggle with a USB plotter.

You will need a PC to install the driver and set the IP, but then go no further, just use Cutting Master to cut.

    I got mine from scan.co.uk 😉

My plotter was working great with the exception of the poll size in cutting master.

Upgraded CM, and now it doesn’t work via the network.

Instead I bought a USB extension cable from Play.com and it works a treat

That’s a good find David, thanks. The amount of Mimaki cutters I’ve had to install via USB and tell the customer to just run around the office with the cable, plugging it in to each Mac and PC is countless!!

    Thanks for posting 😉

it was a toss up between having no space, and poll size.

The plotter worked fine until I updated CM2.

My general opinion and path I have taken was to get one one these
