    I picked up my keys on Monday, and got plenty of work to do in there over the coming weeks.

    Mainly knocking down one stud wall, new suspended ceiling and lighting, security upgrades, phone, water, electric all to arrange.

    Its a massive jump for me. No more fixed all inclusive rent, but a better work space, and more security as I won’t be relying on the landlords work to contribute towards the building.
    I’ve got the added bonus of somewhere I can install vehicle graphics!

    Since telling people I am moving I’ve got 4 vehicle jobs in from that alone. 🙂

    Well done David, I moved in to a unit a year ago and it was the best move I ever made.

    Aye, well done David. The fact that you’ll get vehicles into your own shop will be worth it alone.
    Just carry on telling folk that you’re just moving in!!! 😉

    Neil & Neil, that’s the plan. A lot of my current local competition don’t have fitting bays, even the local franchise doesn’t. So its a USP.

    Warren, that’s the plan. I needed more space, and whilst the shop brings in print work, banners, posters, its not enough to run a business, and then there’s the time wasters I got.

    I’m doing quite a lot trade print, so need more space for that.

    UPDATE:

    not surprised the building trades struggling.

    I knocked down my stud wall in order to make one large open plan office, got a security gate fitted over the fire exit.

    I had prices in for a new suspended ceiling which includes building up the stud so I get a higher ceiling.

    Accepted one quote to then get told I need the electrics connecting first!

    Sparky arrived yesterday and got all the power back on, ceiling in wed/thurs next week followed by the alarm system (I’m paranoid about security).

    It could with a lick of paint but that can wait, as I am paying rent from 1/5 so need to get in and use the place.

    Dave, be very careful with the security gate over a fire exit, if you have a fire its a good get out clause for your insurance. Been there and nearly got the Tshirt and all I had on the door was two draw bolts. (chat.) (:) (hot)

    Second that advice over fire exit doors.

    You’ll get yourself into a bit of bother as it’s no longer a fire exit is it?

    All fire exits MUST be PUSH TO OPEN (bar or pad) – no turning, no handles, no locks…and absolutely no steel guards over them!

    Any issues and insurance might not pay up – even if the guard wasn’t in place…hell, if some scumbag breaks in, sets the place on fire and then can’t get out…could be up on a manslaughter charge…

    My insurance broker has already been to view the unit.

    The gate is fine, but MUST be open whenever anyone is on the premises. They appreciate that fire exits are notoriously easy to for open.

    I’ll upload some pics before, there’s not been much change since.

    Well I am all moved in.

    I managed to get all the machinery and bench over on Friday.

    Luckily I didn’t have to dismantle anything other than my Media rack, and my work bench which was getting loose for starters so took the chance to rebuild it.

    The laminator and plotter fitted on the tail lift in one piece.

    The printer… we improvised. Rolling 1/2 onto the tail lift, then me and my old man lifted the other end up as the lift went up keeping it level, then just rolled it into the van on its stand.

    Spent Saturday reconnecting the network RIP etc, and all seems to be working.

    I wish I had taken pictures of the shop before I took it all out, but will post some photos of the unit when I bring my decent camera in, before it looks like a bombs hit the place!

    Just got to find homes for a few other little bits, but I am all operational.

    Some Photo’s there’s not much to show though.

    There’s my workspace, which I’ve got reasonably organised.

    The drive in bay which is currently housing all my junk I need to find homes for.

    It was heavenly on Monday, I printed 4 posters on PVC, 2000x900mm, straight off the printer onto the bench 😛

    Got a few vehicle graphics to get on with too! 😛

    Really starting to enjoy myself now.

    Yes I did have one I inherited at the old shop, but wasn’t built too well.

    I was wondering what type of profiles you have used as work table?
    I am also moving to unit and don’t really now how to set up everything without losing to much space ( unit is 7metres wide, 25 metres long)

    The bench is a KeenCut Bench we bought that with the cutter.

    We currently have 1 year left on the lease and are looking to move to something considerably larger, around 2-3000 Sq/Ft.

    We now have 4 staff working from the same unit, more stock and machinery. We’re also taking on larger print jobs, and it’s rather annoying not been able to store anything anywhere.

    David, I meant the construction of your working table 🙂 At this point I was looking at welding the whole table, but it looks like your aluminium profile does the job as well…

    Would like have 2 separate tabels each one 400 x 200 cm on wheels
