I have made a big boo boo this week (what a plonker!)
I bought a secondhand epson 44 inch 10000cf Epson Pigmemted printer on thursday for little money basically just to do one job I got booked in at the moment that will offset the £800 i paid for it. but I have knackered the heads up bring ing it back to cardiff from the midlands on thursday.
When I plugged it in and tried a print the ink spread every where and now gives a fatal error code 00010001b (head temperature) suggesting a ink line came loose in transit causing the Motherboard, heads and all the carriage kit and capping station to get covered in inks!
New Heads – £900 new board – god Knows capping station and maintenance kit – £650 and the dreaded labour maybe a £2000 bill all becuase I didnt know you needed to lock the heads in place with a transport locking bar.
good news though
the machine had been well used which reflected in the £800 price tag, rung epson express ( a new repair service for out of warranty repairs) and they agreed to repair the machine for a one off fee of £356, I also agreed to replace all the maintenance components at cost only.
the final bill will be £600 & vat thus hopefully giving me a full functional recondionted machine with years of life for £1400.
Dont transport epson machines without the TRANSPORT BAR "What a Plonker!
