I can’t open files sent from Corel
Posted by Ewan Chrystal on 27 July 2014 at 13:25I have been sent a PDF which originated in Corel photopaint X6 but i can’t open it. I’ve tried to open in Adobe reader and Illustrator with no joy. Adobe reader say file was possibly not decoded?
Any ideas how i can get this opened?

Another option in future might be open illustrator. Go file > Place then just expand and resave

I’ve had problems with some customers not being able to open pdf files created in Corel, I can always open them but no matter what settings I use the customer can’t open them with their pdf reader.
I’ve never got to the bottom of it, but then I’ve not tried that hard either.Steve

I have never had an issue with Corel originated pdf files and send alot off in the course of a working week. Some are for customer approval and some for output – to litho trade houses or large format. It is worth noting though that there is a size limit of approx 5 metres (I think) although Corel/others can generate larger pdf Adobe Reader cannot display it therefore you see a blank page/ Use another Reader such as Nitro and it will display ok, this would also account for why Corel can import it ok as well.
This may not be your issue but it is worth knowing

I didn’t know that Alan and it’s probably why some of my customers can’t see the file.
