I am Snowed-in, anyone else in the same boat?
Posted by Robert Lambie on 9 February 2021 at 06:06So I have woke this morning to find at least 6 inches of thick snow has fallen during the night and continues to fall as I type. Not only will there not be any signs fitted today, but the customer’s vehicles won’t reach us either. So van lettering isn’t going to happen!
To make matters worse, I am not even going to attempt to get my van out of the two up-hill streets I need to drive before getting to the main road. So my plan is to walk it in the snow to work. It will probably take me about an hour. but needs must!As much as vans won’t be getting fitted at our workshop and signs fitted on the location are out the question, I plan to catch up on signs being manufactured, assembled, or printed etc.
Is anyone else faced with this situation, this morning?
I had given some serious thought to going back to my warm bed. 🙄That’s Global Warming for you eh!? 😉

No such thing as bad weather Rob, just the wrong clothes. Didn’t think I would be wearing my skiing clobber this year but here I am digging my van out in it. Heading in to the workshop shortly

-18c and about 80cm of snow on the ground. Some of us are made of thicker stuff and just get on with it 😂
But with summer tyres its a different story. Keeping the van off the road is by far the cheapest option

😂 In all fairness kevin and rob thats a fair amount of snow especially when your not setup for it.

Brits love to moan about the weather mate, but we rarely get anything severe, just miserable

I was wondering where you are Martin, forgetting you are in Finland, mate! 😳

We seem to have missed the worst of it. Just a light dusting of very powdery snow. Blimmin cold though.

Well, it took me slightly longer to get to work than I thought… I jogged about 50% of the way, walked some and crawled the rest! Just over an hour. This is normally a busy road. its already been ploughed but quickly covered over again.

It’s tried snowing here, but it’s not sticking.
However, I am working from home 😀 I’m enjoying the new way we’re working, I’d rather sit here with the Netflix on doing artwork, and waiting for deliveries, than freezing my knackers off in the workshop.

😲Blimey Kev, you’ve had it bad and I hope no one was near that chair when it blew over….
Pretty bad snow since Sunday down her in Essex❄

It was touch & go at one point Martin, but god bless us all we came through it against all the odds. However there’s a strawberry plant in a pot that hasn’t faired so well. I only pray our insurance will cover it

😯phew, I’ll sleep better tonight knowing that,
just hope you had fully comp on the strawberry plant

I had Monday off, we live on very high ground on the Kent Sussex border and we had around 4-6″ from Sunday afternoon and overnight into monday afternoon. We got the discovery out easy enough but, I didn’t even try moving the van! We’ve just had the driveway re-tarmac’d a couple of months back so it’s as smooth as, not to mention a 10ft rise over around 50ft with a blind exit onto a main road… so close yet so far!!!
I walked the dogs and then jumped in the hot tub for an hour or so while checking emails!
In all honesty, I got more work admin / workflow stuff done in a few hours in the afternoon, than I would ever do in a day at the office! Then back in the hot tub!
