    http://www.parluxhairdryers.co.uk/produ … -Dryer.htm

I never realised how good a proper hair dryer was, till I saw one of these in action, OK its about twice the cost of a dewalt or bosch air gun, but delivers an incredible airflow, great for preheating large areas of vinyl. and also does temperatures far in access required for post heating.

it also is designed to work flat out for years.

    I have just ordered one,

im being serious, i hate the old voice from behind my back. "love the hair dryer mate" when fitting a van… never mind standing with a dinky pink or raunchy red salon services hair dryer in my hand. 😕 😳 :lol1:

so what heat tempreture does it reach peter (?)

Rob, I didnt measure the temperature, but I could not hold my hand near it on the high setting for more than a few seconds, and I know from experience, it is as hot as needed for our job. I am serious here, I have ordered one and will even bring it to sign uk for you to evaluate

the one i posted the picture of just there is a long lasting professional industrial heat gun.
    tempreture setting of 750 & 1000°F
    will cost you about £75-£85

as you know it is imperative to get vinyl up to the required heat and gauged by laser temp device. the best i have found to date was about 500°F and burned out quickly. most others are about 200-300°F

time is always of the essence, particularly curing after the wraps in place.

I recently bought an airgun from machine mart that goes to 650 degrees.
cost about £45, far in excess of post heat requirements, it failed after a week of minimal use, Ok they replaced it but the new one sounds iffy,

This gun really does produce large quantities of hot air, (phil will know what I mean)

thats just it mate… they B&Q and light industrial use ones just dont cut it…
some reach the temps, but not fast enough. some do quickly, but motor burns out very quickly. im not just talking the black & decker, but also the bosch, dewalt etc

    heat gun or hair dryer?
Could be a heated debate here

I use my hair dryer for removing vinyl more than I use it on my hair.
I think heat guns are dangerous.
What really scares me is when I see guys using torches.
Maybe jealous would be a better word, I would singe myself and the vehicle.
    😉
