How would I produce these stickers?
Posted by Peter Dee on 12 February 2010 at 14:35I need to produce prints on the Versacamm which will stick on the inside of windows with the print facing out.
Any ideas how this is done in s/a vinyl rather than self cling?Darren Lawlor replied 15 years, 8 months ago 13 Members · 20 Replies -

Hi Pete, print them on clear vinyl and back them with white.

you might want to increase the ink density as reverse prints done thus way can sometimes look a little washed out.

Dont forget to scalpel around the crop marks, cutting just through the white – peel it away leaving the marks behind. Trust me it’ll not find them otherwise……. been there done that đŸ˜³

Thanks guys, never thought about the crop mark side of things.

Hi folks,
Customer looking for 340 round window stickers to stick on inside of windows facing outwards. Can someone please have a look at how I propose to do it or am I going the complete wrong way about it??
1) Print and cut the stickers 120mm diameter in reverse on clear vinyl on the Roland VP540.
2) Load white vinyl on the machine and cut out 120mm diameter circles.
3) Apply white vinyl circles individually on top of the already printed clear vinyl stickers.
Am I correct or just plain mad.
Kind Regards,
Darren.

You are mad! Print stickers with crop marks, apply white vinyl inside the crop marks over all the stickers then put back in and cut
 -
That won’t work Darren. You just print the circles in reverse onto clear also printing the alignment crop marks then flood coat the print with white vinyl after leaving prints for 24hrs to out gas. Then you pop it back into the printer and get it to read the crop marks and cut it all in one go. You will also have to increase blade pressure to cut the vinyl as it is now thicker.

Thanks for confirming the fact that I am in fact mad chris………..As I already have printed 400 square ones in an even madder fashion…..
Do you mind explaining something to me…
For example, I set the machine to print the 340 stickers, I have the crop marks set on the outside corners of the overall material to be used for the print in order to contour cut the stickers, do I allow the machine to cut the stickers after printing or do I take them out and apply the vinyl and then reload the whole lot again. Is there a box that I have to tick or untick in the Roland Versaworks……….
Thanks for the help.
Darren.

How will the cutter see the crop marks if the vinyl has been laminated with white vinyl!?
 -
I meant to say that I would be keeping it inside the crop marks so the machine could still pick them up.
Also would I be then cutting through 2 layers of vinyl and if so do I need to adjust the blade?
Thanks Folks.
Darren.

as Chris said you apply the white vinyl INSIDE the crop marks
or alternatively put square of app tape over the marks, cover the whole lot with white then remove cut away where the tape is to reveal the marks,Simples

Good Tip Peter thanks. I usually try and apply the white to the inside of the crop marks and then peel it away if there is any overlap. But will use your tip in future.

A lot of brilliant advice guys…Thanks very much.
When I take out the printed material, back wash it with white (Inside the crop marks of course) , I then reload it in the versacamm. Do I then just select the cut option in Roland Versaworks and off she goes??
Am I just sounding thicker and thicker as the questions go on??
Did I mention that I am only 6 yrs of age??
Regards,
Darren.

Hi
You have to set the cut pressure right so you can cut both layersArnt
 -
Thats what I meant Steve, you said it so much clearer
 -
quote :Darren,
Your printer will automatically pick up the crop marks if they are present. You have to check the “cut only” box – if not it will print the job as well.

Once again folks this website has proved its worth in Gold…..
Good honest advice…………….What more could someone ask for……..
Thanks to all for their replies…
