    How to turn off setting in Corel 12

    Sorry for the idiotic questions about Corel these past few days.
    Since I reinstalled it, I get that annoying little direction notation when selecting something (like to move it)
    I know there’s a little selection somewhere in the toolbar where I de-select that but can’t remember where.

    Think this is what you are after

    Tools>Customisation>Dynamic Guides> then turn off dynamic guides OK>
    Then go back to Tools>Save Settings as Default.
