  • How to stick Acrylic Standoffs to Dibond

Posted by karlofglasgow on 6 July 2006 at 20:02

    Your help would be appreciated.

Im doing my first job on flat cut acrylic letters, they are to be mounted onto Dibond Aluminium Sheet.

Im having difficulty in getting the letters to stick to Dibond.

I would prefer a glue/adhesive/solvent based solution to mount them. I will only resort to using sticky tape if all else fails. But surely there is a glue out there what will do the trick.

    I have so far tried:
    Tensol 12 (Solvent)
    Gorilla Glue
    Super Glue
and one or two generic glues.

HELP, I only have till tomorrow to make the right purchase, Saturday is bekoning.

    Thanks in advance.

Where can I buy it on Friday, around Glasgow.

Karl get down to Winzer Wurth in Hillington Industrial Est. and buy some two part epoxy (same as Richard suggests), comes in twin tube dispenser (you will need a special gun for it).

You can also get it from Big Head Fastenings and Eurobond but not by tomorrow.

    Cheers

use silicon adhesive or evostic tuff stuff, that, is if you are just sticking the cut out letters directly to the dibond, and not standing them off as your subject says, otherwise you need to screw the standoffs to the board

The evostik ‘serious stuff’ in black tubes is flippin’ amazing. A VERY high bond adhesive that’s a bit rubbery and totally impact & water proof. Just use enough to create a bit of a ‘blob’ as more IS better.

I’ve stuck up a few things with this….they’ll never move :lol1:

ps. Don’t get it on your clothes…it REALLY is water proof…and washing machine proof…
