  • How to safely transport RS-640

    My new units taking shape.

All I need to do now is get the concrete floor painted and slap some emulsion on the walls.

Alarm is getting fitted Tuesday, and I have a loading bay full of timber and plaster board to skip.

So I should be good to move over next weekend.

I am planning on hiring a 7.5 ton tail lift truck.

How’s the best way to transport the printer? Its only a 10min drive to the new place, but I can’t afford any damage!

Is there a ‘transit’ mode, or bracket to stop the print heads moving?

    Cheers.

    Hi David,

Cant quote exactly because we have an SP540 but theres a blue metal bracket that bolts to the body of the machine and locks the head in its docking position.

After that we just took out the carts and waste ink bottle.

Yes there’s a blue bracket on the body near the carts.

There’s no problem with air getting into it by removed the cart’s and waste bottle?

Or I just perform a clean when it arrives at the new place?

We had ours apart for about fifteen minutes while we moved and reinstalled it on its trolley. Just did a head clean and test print when complete.

I’m not an expert David but we certainly had no issues doing it this way.

    Hi David

About 9 months ago, I moved my VP540i over 2500kms in the back of my van, over a period of 3 days. I left it on the stand, and left the ink carts and waste bottle in place. I just secured the head with the bracket. Unpacked it, and a ran a clean, and have had no problems at all. Just had to be careful how it was packed, not to knock the cartridges.

    Cheers

You are supposed to flush all ink from the system prior to transport…

SUPPOSED TO and DONE are 2 different concepts in my world 😀 Just be careful not to tilt the printer too much. Keep it level as far as possible, and you should have no worries.

    Cheers Guys.

I’ll lock the print heads in place, then remove the cartridges and make the move.

Can’t afford for my machine to be down when I move.
