  • how to print onto rollerblinds ?

    Hi Everyone
Recently started a small company putting photos etc on to canvas, and its not going too bad, I would desperately like to start doing roller blinds too, only I’m a bit wet behind the ears to say the least.

I currently have canon w8400 pigment based printer and I’m wondering, can it be done on this or do i need a different kind of printer?

also providing i can source the mechanisms what materials would i use?

Sorry for bombarding you lot with questions, and please forgive my ignorance, I’ve soured the Internet but i mainly get companies supplying the roller blinds rather than information on the process…

    many thanks in advance!!!

I do loads of printed roller blinds on a Cadet (full solvent though).

First thing first, is to get a sample of some roller blind materials from a local blinds manufacturer & do some test prints. Check for intensity & colour fastness…no point in doing bathroom blinds that might run!!

Opt for 100% polyester (WHITE) with no ‘fluffy bits’ and also a PVC ‘total-block’ / ‘ban-light’ / ‘no-light’ material also in white.
Print them at a ‘normal’ setting with the heater temps higher than usual (like for a PVC banner).

    For assembly, two ways:

Print the whole thing & cut to size (with extra top & bottom) & get the blind co. to fabricate into a roller…

or, get a completed blind – unroll, take out the bottom bar & detach from the header (usually d/sided tape). Carefully align in your machine & set to print. It WILL have unprinted borders this way though.

I’m told you can get kits suitable for this but have been unable to find any….anyone seen anything?

    Cheers,
    Justin 🙂
