  • How Low Is Too Low For Pricing??

Posted by Paul Humble on 13 November 2008 at 19:45

I had a guy pop in today for a numberplate and while he was there he noticed my cutter etc. He mentioned he had just had his van signed up by a well known local company in Sunderland who I wont name. Single colour job, just text, 2 sides and a back door nothing too hard so I asked him if he minded me asking how much he paid……………………………

    £60!!!

It cant just be me who thinks it is a ridiculously low price. The lad asked what I would have charged and I just couldnt answer, but I did say at £60 a van I might start subcontracting out!!

Mad, but then my competitors were usually £100 less than me on vans, I spoke with the manager yesterday and he said they are dead, never known it so quiet, I wondered why all these pavement signs and banners were appearing outside his shop. I have actually got very busy again the last two months after a steady year.

    Cheers

A really basic van, 1/2 hour to set up, 1/2 hour to c/w/t, 1/2 to apply plus what 3mtrs max 4, can be done cheap but it’s not going to be pretty. Time plus materials there shouldn’t be much more than 60quid, knock it and get on with the next one!

    (I’m assuming it’s a wee van kangoo/astra/berlingo type size!)
